Course Content

Module 4
Illustration Foundations: Bringing Ideas to Life
 This module covers the essential building blocks for creating full illustrations. You’ll learn quick, effective color theory, how to work with light and shadow, and how to use composition to guide the viewer’s eye. We’ll cover values, mood, focal points, and how to build your elements around a strong layout so your artwork feels cohesive and intentional.
MODULE 5
Visual Storytelling & Iteration
Great illustrations don’t just look good — they say something. Here, you’ll learn how to use character posing, expression, props, lighting, and composition to communicate emotion, mood, and narrative. We’ll explore how to embody your character, research references, and iterate on your ideas until you land on a final concept that tells the story you want.
Module 6
Final Illustration & Rendering Techniques
It’s time to bring everything together into a polished final piece. You’ll explore different painting styles — from painterly to cel-shaded — and learn techniques for edges, textures, and highlights. I’ll share my personal, simplified process formula for tackling any illustration, plus tips for clean-up, final touches, and making your artwork pop. By the end, you’ll have a completed, story-driven character illustration ready to share or add to your portfolio.
